The best AI code review tools in 2026

We make Codzee, so we're not neutral. That's why we didn't just write opinions. We gave seven AI code reviewers the same pull requests, full of bugs we planted on purpose, and counted what each one found. Every review is still public on GitHub, so you can check our work.

The short answer

  • Codzee found the most bugs, with short comments and a fix in half of them. It also scans whole repos for security problems. GitHub only.
  • Greptile was the most consistent, and the best on the first, smaller tests.
  • CodeRabbit works with GitHub and GitLab, and reviews public repositories for free.
  • CodeAnt AI is good at bugs inside one function, and lists GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket and Azure DevOps integrations.
  • Sourcery is among the cheapest, and had no false alarms.
  • Bito and Autter missed many of our pull requests, so try them before you rely on them.

How we tested

  • Two test apps on GitHub, with 20 pull requests each: a travel booking app and a parcel delivery app.
  • We planted bugs in every pull request and wrote down the answers before each tool saw it.
  • A bug counts as found when the tool says what goes wrong, not just which line.
  • The first app tested Codzee, Greptile, CodeRabbit and CodeAnt. The second tested Codzee, Sourcery, Bito and Autter.

One honest limit: we wrote the pull requests and the answers. Treat this as one test, and run your own. The first app's pull requests are public.

Test 1: Codzee, Greptile, CodeRabbit and CodeAnt

Planted bugs found, out of 230
Codzee190
Greptile152
CodeRabbit140
CodeAnt AI112

Codzee found the most bugs overall. But it didn't win every round. Greptile did better on the first five pull requests, and all three beat Codzee on a round about concurrency bugs. See the full breakdowns: Codzee vs Greptile and Codzee vs CodeRabbit.

Test 2: Codzee, Sourcery, Bito and Autter

Share of planted bugs found
Codzee116 of 17367%
Autter34.5 of 83, reviewed 9 of 20 PRs42%
Sourcery62.5 of 17336%
Bito28 of 131, reviewed 14 of 20 PRs21%

Codzee reviewed all 20 pull requests and found two thirds of the bugs. Autter and Bito didn't review every pull request, so their scores only count the ones they did. A tool that skips a review can't catch anything in it.

Each tool in a few lines

Codzee

Found 83% and 67% of the bugs in the two tests, with no false alarms. Reviews take about a minute. Comments are short, and about half come with a fix you apply in one click. It also scans whole repositories for leaked secrets and vulnerable packages. The downsides: it works with GitHub only, and it puts comments past the tenth in a summary instead of on the code.

Greptile

Found 66% in the first test. It gave the most similar results when we ran the same pull request twice, and it puts every finding on the code with a priority label. Reviews take 3 to 5 minutes.

CodeRabbit

Found 61% in the first test. It was the quietest on clean code, and it reads the pull request description to understand what the change should do. Its comments are long, about 1,900 characters on average.

CodeAnt AI

Found 49% in the first test. It's good at bugs inside one function, and weaker when a bug spans two files.

Sourcery

Found 36% in the second test, with no false alarms. At $12 per developer a month billed yearly, it's among the cheapest here, and it's free for public repositories.

Bito and Autter

Bito reviewed 14 of 20 pull requests and found 21% of the bugs in them. Autter reviewed 9 of 20 and found 42%. Both raised a few false alarms.

What they cost

From each company's pricing page on October 28, 2026. CodeAnt AI and Autter don't list a price we could confirm. Prices change often, so check each site before you buy.

Tools we didn't test

We didn't include GitHub Copilot code review or Cursor, and Qodo's trial ended after two rounds. We'll add them in a future round.

How to choose

  • On GitHub and want the most bugs caught? Start with Codzee or Greptile.
  • On GitLab? CodeRabbit and CodeAnt AI both list it. Codzee works with GitHub only.
  • Tight budget? Sourcery and Bito cost the least.

Best of all, try two tools on your own pull requests for a week. Plant one bug you know about and see who finds it. Here's how we ran one round, if you want to copy it.
